JPEG file conversion

Hi All,

I need your help in one of my assignments. I dont need the solution but I need 
some valuable suggestions. My requirement is to read some values from the 
Picture sent by the client system. This picture is taken by an inline camera 
connected to the client's system. 

The camera would catch the Tag number and passes the phtotograph to ISeries 
through a client system. Is there a way to read the JPEG file to get the number 
in the picture?
