Lastly as I look at this, I notice that your ORDER BY clause is
incomplete.

You need at least one column name of number.

I thought this would work, as there is no syntax error using 
double quotes

But no records are selected on the OPEN MYCSR, but when I comment the
substr D spec, it retrieves ALL records.

I've searched midrange and seen some use of the CAT command, 
but not as a
solution.
