In the Substr clause, take care of the space before and after the ,
SUBSTR(FIL44,43,1) become SUBSTR(FIL44 , 43 , 1)

But no records are selected on the OPEN MYCSR, but when I comment the
substr D spec, it retrieves ALL records.

I've searched midrange and seen some use of the CAT command, but not as a
solution.
