Aaron, A quick question: I assume that when you say "When I recompile to OPTIMIZE(*FULL) I get the value of pParm3 in pParm2 (even though pParm2 is passed literally!!!!)" you mean that you're discovering this programatically, rather than through debug? As the help text for the OPTIMIZE keyword points out, debug values can't be trusted with OPTIMIZE(*FULL). That seems to be what at least one of the posts you refer to is discussing - that debug values don't seem to be right. FWIW, I never use OPTIMIZE(*FULL) - I've never found any appreciable performance difference, and the debug-related problems are so much hassle, it's just not worth it. Rory
