Explicit Logic = Documentation Implicit Logic = magic
I guess it's time to go back to explicitly transferring blocks of raw bytes from file buffers into variables, then. After all, that's implicit. And of course, that also means doing away with externally-described files, since their meta-data is implicit, whether you're using RPG or C.
Regardless of whether they use The Cycle, programmers who can't instantly recognize that it's in use (either by the presence of a primary file, or by the presence of logic to turn on LR in response to some indication that it's "time to say 'Good Night, Gracie'") have no business coding in RPG, any more than programmers who don't know about case sensitivity have any business coding in C or Java.
