Yeah I guess a rules database. Are there any products that dig thru the legacy code I guess we just heard about the Databorough products, are there others like that? -----Original Message----- From: rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Shannon O'Donnell Sent: Friday, December 08, 2006 2:48 PM To: RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries Subject: RE: Legacy question Can you provide an example of what kind of logic you are thinking of loading to a DB? I'm not sure how you'd do it if you are talking about loading actual code statements like "If COND = 'A' Eval R=B". On the other hand, if you're just talking about a rules database then that's not really any different than any other kind of db that is used to control logic in a program. Is it? Maybe I'm missing something there in your question. -----Original Message----- From: rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Phil Kestenbaum Sent: Friday, December 08, 2006 1:28 PM To: RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries Subject: Legacy question We have some programs that have hard-coding, in the logic phase of a program. I am thinking it may be interesting to put these together into a database thereby use this in the code instead. Usually these are assorted 'exceptions to the rule' accounts. Anyone who has done please share your experience, ideas on this. Thank you, Phil This message contains information proprietary to our company.
