So how can you reliably read their data unless using same program described definitions? This is a common problem for S36ee systems where external definitions were created but either wrong or not maintained. jim----- Original Message ----- From: "James H H Lampert" <jamesl@xxxxxxxxxxx>

Given that their application runs in S36 emulation mode, I'm inclined to think they're running program-described, and that the meta-data in the file doesn't match what they're actually doing with the affected fields. In which case, the last thing we want to do, especially with the packed-data-in-zoned-field situations, is to "fix" anything. Other than maybe the meta-data itself. -- JHHL -- This is the RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries (RPG400-L) mailing list To post a message email: RPG400-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/rpg400-l or email: RPG400-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/rpg400-l.
