Michael: Thanks for the help. Using %DEC() worked. I did have the variable defined as a 3 character field and I was using a temp. intermediate variable using %int() but then when converting the temp. to the character field I had to start calculating the length and concatenating '0's. I knew I could do it all in 1 step using %editc(), just used the wrong bif. Thanks again to all the replies. There's always 101 different ways of doing any 1 thing when programming and I appreciate all the methods everyone posted. ****************************************** Don Wereschuk ISD - Programmer/Analyst Simcoe Parts Service Inc. Hi All: I'm trying to use %editc() to add 1 to a 3 character field
but
it is not working quite right. I just can't see what I am doing wrong. The code is as follows: HSISN3 = %editc((%int(HSISN3) + 1):'X'); HSISN3 is defined as 3 character. The initial value is '001'. I was hoping after the calc that the value would be '002'. Instead I get '000'. The program is compiled as *ZONED. Can anyone help? TIA ****************************************** Don Wereschuk ISD - Programmer/Analyst Simcoe Parts Service Inc.
