In rewriting an application I am moving from writing to a temporary native file and CPYTOSTMF to writing directly to the IFS. As part of the security the involved IFS tree is secured using an Authorization List (AUTL). When a PC creates anything in this tree all the authority entries are copied from the parent folder including the AUTL. However, when the RPGLE program creates a file only the PGP is copied to the new file. I understand that this is part of the UNIX way and a result of setting the authority bits during the open with the create bit set. What I haven't been able to find is a way to automatically or at least semi-automatically (another step but using reference) copy the rest of the entries. I don't want to have to store the AUTL and have the program(s) do a CHGAUT every time it creates a file. Having the program perform a step that says "copy the authority from the parent folder to this file" is OK as it can be using appropriate references. What have I been unable to find in InfoCenter and the Midrange archives? Thanks. Roger Vicker, CCP
