The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
I managed to get access to the customer system this
afternoon, and the EXTFILE gambit worked perfectly. (And
to those of you who realized I'd MEANT EXTFILE when I'd
said EXTNAME, thanks.) Neither the compiler nor the
runtime objected to the period in the EXTFILE (there I go
again, almost saying EXTNAME), and simply having empty
"dummy" copies of the files (which, despite their S36
names, ARE externally-described) in the *LIBL, renamed to
their RPG-friendly aliases, gave the compiler the
meta-data it needed.
Thanks again to all who offered advice.
