From what I've learned simply converting the source and recompiling by 
itself doesn't provide much of a performance improvement. However 
converting to ILE allows access to the various optimization levels that 
are alleged to provide significant performance improvements including a 
feature called "instruction piping" that is only available to ILE progams.
