From what I've learned simply converting the source and recompiling by itself doesn't provide much of a performance improvement. However converting to ILE allows access to the various optimization levels that are alleged to provide significant performance improvements including a feature called "instruction piping" that is only available to ILE progams.

Hi All,

I'm looking through our object directories, and I noticed we still have
a lot of programs there were compiled in RPG (pre 5.x). Would there be
any advantage for me to run the CVTRPGSRC on the source and recompile it
again? Would I see any gains in speed with the converted programs?
This would be under the assumption that I would not do anything but
convert and compile (yet!).

Thanks,

Brian.
