Re: blank or 0 in database field

Jay,
Since the field is defined as a Signed field, not Packed, you will not get a 
data decimal error.
You can test the field for BLANK by redefining it in your program as a 
Character field and testing that value for *Blank.

My first question would be, even though its a non-AS/400 application, its
still bad practice to move a nonnumeric value to a field that is defined as
numeric, unless on the non-AS/400 system, the field it IS a nonnumeric
field.
Anyway.
The first thing that comes to my mind is to code to see if the field = 0
(that's zero), and by default, the exception is blank. However, I think
(underline think) you may get a data decimal error on this if statement,
therefore you may have to enclose this if code between monitor end-mon.
