I don't know if this works any faster, but I believe you can use the SQL
RTRIM function instead of TRIM for this particular example.

That's a really nice technique.  No extra fields.  I see it could also
be used to compare against another database field, so that makes it even
more flexible.

C                   Eval      HstNameFix = 'Media'

C/Exec SQL
C+ Delete from MyTable
C+            Where Name like '%' concat Trim(:HstNameFix) concat '%'
C/END-EXEC
