From about V5R1 onwards, the limit for a stand-alone character field and the
full size of a DS was increased from 32767 bytes to 65535 bytes. There was a
point when the SEU syntax checker would complain, but the program would
compile fine (I think on V5R1), but now 6535 is fine.

Sadly, the 32767 array dimension limit still stands :-(

understand myself what the purpose is here, but I believe
