I don't suppose a little testing with 
/free
 monitor;

 on-error; //either look up an appropriate program status code in chapter 
5 of the ILE RPG reference or just use the following
    cleanUp();  // execute cleanup subprocedure
 endmon;

Not sure if an abort of a session allows that program ANY time to deal 
with it.
