Check the SQLCOD or SQLSTT after each SQL-statement.

I failed to mention that I am doing error checking, but I went through your
suggestion in debug anyway.  SQLCOD and SQLSTT stay at 0 until the first
fetch.  Then SQLCOD = 000000100 and SQLSTT = 02000.  Both mean no more data.

Try to move off the '' around the catalog value.

Oh my goodness that did it!  You mean one doesn't put the quotes around
character values in embedded SQL?  When I try it without quotes in STRSQL it
tells me "Column E not in specified tables."
