I thought this would be a nice method, so I checked the V5R3 Info Centre earlier and it said the same thing - when the parameter to %addr() is a parameter defined with the const parameter, the %addr() is only valid in a comparison expression. On a side note, I avoid *OMIT like the plague. Lim - maybe your procedure is doing too much and should be broken down into smaller procedures which have only required varibles? Or perhaps you can use *NOPASS? *NOPASS is so much easier to deal with than *OMIT, at least IMHO. Adam rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx wrote on 31/08/2006 03:35:25 PM:
AFAIK as of V5R2 the %ADDR() BIF of a CONST parameter can only be used in a boolean expression and that it still can't be used in an EVAL. ----- Original Message ----- From: Bob Cozzi To: 'RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries' Sent: Thursday, August 31, 2006 3:13 PM Subject: RE: Allocate field with options(*nopass :*omit) It depends on what release you're targeting the compile. If you're on V5.2 or later, I believe it works. It should/does work on
V5.3.
It was supposed to work on V3.7 but nobody complained until long after V5.1 was out. -Bob Cozzi www.iSeriesTV.com Ask your Manager to watch iSeriesTV.com
