That's an interesting idea, I like the link you sent.  I'll have to look 
at it more.

What I have is a bunch of mailmerge word documents, which currently get 
run by a 3rd party vb program which is no longer supported. 

The document to print is selected from a file on the iseries, and also 
data used in the document is selected from the iseries.  The documents 
themselves currently reside on the user pc.   The data to process is 
placed in the ifs along with the name of the document to print.

The user then clicks an icon on the desktop, which starts a vb program, 
which reads the data file from ifs, and opens word, and does the 
mailmerge.

I would like to stop using this program and move to something that would 
run from the iseries to get the documents printed.

I was considering uploading all the word documents to ifs and reading them 
from there using  Jakarta POI.  This would need formatting and such since 
it goes out to customers and such.
