I have process that send messages via sockets. The message use a bit map to indicate what fields are present in the message. The bit map is 64 binary characters. So if the first 8 bit were "10000001" fields 1 and 8 are utilized. What I want to know is how to describe the fields for the bit map? Then how do I turn the bit on or off? Thanks in advance.
