Are you using the full directory path of the logon user when passing it
to ldap_simple_bind_s?

Example: 
D my_DNuser       C                   const('cn=myUserID,ou=resources
-
D
,ou=corporate,dc=us,dc=mydc,dc=com')
D my_DNuserPswd   C                   const('mypassword') 

c                   eval      myRetCode = ldap_simple_bind_s(ldap_id
c                                :my_DNuser :my_DNuserPswd)

I get "Invalid credentials".
