thanks for feedback, had a read of posts, unfortunately did not appear to be a 
satisfactory conclusion that I could see.
I've got some feedback from another message board, which believe also posted on 
midrange replies, so will have to investigate JVM instances and garbage 
collection.
As an RPG programmer with no experience in Java do not have option of getting 
into some of the simple re-write enhancements.
If I get any useful feedback or stumble across ways of optimising will pass on.
As I said I would, I've included message that was received on single page 
report when I ran function after optimisation of jar.
JVA012C: The optimized version of class 
/QIBM/UserData/Java400/ext/poi-2.5.1-final-20040804.jar is not being used.
