Try putting a command front-end on the RPG program, and using that command front-end instead of the direct call statement.

I've seen things like this happen before; I think IBM must have screwed up a few things in parameter passing when they went from component CPUs to PowerPC/AS. Or maybe when they went from OPM to ILE. Or both.
