   Hello John...

What is the field size of Uu40ic?

For most concatenation activities, you want to be sure to use a %trim()
around the fields to eliminate excess space.

   Have a good day.

   List,
I'm trying to put parenthesis around a field for a label I'm
creating. It is to read (.5625"). My code:
   D Ser2 S 10 varying
   .
   .
   C Eval Ser2 = '(' + Uu40ic + ')'

It puts the left paren in, but not the right. What am I doing wrong? I
put it in debug and stop right after the eval statement and sure enough,
   Ser2 is (.5625"

   TIA
