Hi Alan I think I lost the thread and the plot - literally :-) In one post you had said that you use SFLPAG = SFLSIZ to get around the issue of users wanting the 10,000th record, but you didn't want to reload the subfile from the 10,000th record and then you went on to say in a later post that users wouldn't scroll through the 10,000 records they would use a position field. My misunderstanding was that I forgot you were advocating SFLPAG = SFLSIZ which would force you to reload the subfile every time, and got stuck on what seemed a contradiction that you didn't want to reload the subfile. I think I'd better go and have a large Espresso or something and re-read the threads when my brain is working again. Hi Jonathan, thats the reason for this thread/conversation. I prefer to use page-at-a-time subfiles, because there IS no limit of 10,000 or so records for the sub-file. AM Please respond to RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries <rpg400-l@midrang e.com> Hi Alan >> You don't have to scroll down 10,000 records, how about giving the user a >> position to field? So, if your user repositions to the 10,000th record after the first page is loaded do you then read the next 9,990 or so records to get to the one your user wants? Personally I would reload the subfile starting from the 10,000th record and handle any paging up programmatically.
