   Hello Don...

CHGPF is usually faster when doing simple changes like adding a field to
the end (as opposed to adding in the middle or renaming fields).

However, if you start adjusting the structure of the file, you're going to
get level checks on the new file and you'll have to re-compile anything
that touches it or any associated logicals.

   Have a good day.

Need some help with changing a PF. I have a file with 3.5 million
records. I have changed the DDS to include a new field at the end of the
record. Does anyone know if it would be quicker to rename the file,
recreate the PF and copy the records from the renamed file to the new
file OR do a CHGPF on the old file.
