The physical file already has a record format name. Since it was created with CREATE TABLE, the record format name is the same as the file name. Do this in your file specs: FINVENTORY O E Disk F Rename(INVENTORY:INREC) That renames the record format name (INVENTORY) to a different name (INREC). You specify the record format name on writes, updates and deletes..."read a file, write a record...".
