Can you explain what you mean by "moved to the numeric field" please. 

At first read I thought you meant you were converting a character string
"12/22/06" for example into a _date_ field. And using some system
routine to do that conversion. And asking how you tell the system
routine the cutoff for 20/21st century (which is usually 39/40). 

However, upon rereading it, you say you're moving the string date into a
_numeric_ field. So I assume we're talking about a packed (or signed)
numeric field that's 8,0 is size. In which case I'm not aware of any
system routine that converts a string to a numeric date. How are you
doing the move? Can you show some code?
