Honestly you shouldn't care about 1 & 2, UNLESS, it affects 3, or something you're not telling us. Like, for example, how do I tell which number was just assigned. (I'm not really asking, just threw that out as a sample.) I don't care what IBM does under the covers when I do a DIV as long as they tell me about anomalies like precision, truncation, etc in the manual. But knowing 1 & 2 does affect 3. As stated in someone else's email, saving the sequence object is important. As far as the identity column, I'd suggest saving just the file on one system, restore it to another, and insert a row and see if it increments right. If so, just have faith that the os will handle it. If you don't have multiple partitions/systems let me know and I'll test it for you. Rob Berendt
