I guess that means server wouldn't know the connection has been broken when program ended abnormally without exec the close() api. If that is the case, what would happen if there is a network issue where connection has been broken, how does server able to know to free the connection? -----Original Message----- From: rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Scott Klement Sent: Wednesday, January 18, 2006 11:05 AM To: RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries Subject: Re: General socket question: Would server knows the connection hasbeen broken if client drop the connection without calling close() > If I've a socket program that connected to a server and the program > ended abnormally without calling the close() to close the connection, > would the server knows that the connection has been broken and auto > drop the connection?
