Re: Name Parsing w/RPGLE

Wouldn't anything qualify as a valid first name nowadays?  With people 
naming children Destiny, Star, Rock, etc...  thus name parsing = almost 
impossible.

Any reason why you cannot get the vendor to change? If not, you are going
to have a MAJOR problem here. One example comes to mind,
Keith Richard
and Richard Keith

Both are valid names, which way is the right way? The answer - BOTH
and what are you going to do with exotic names? Foreign names? etc.
Approach the vendor and see what they say.

Good Afternoon,

Just throwing this question out because this is the first time I have come
across it...

I have a field that is passed to an RPGLE Service program of Name now it
could be First Last Name or Last Name First Name and so on and trying to
figure out how to pull the correct names out of the full name...  I have
no ability to change the sender to have a First and Last Name field sent
since this is an outside vendor.....  Stumped on this one...

Some examples

"WOODS RICHARD P"
"LISA K. PORCHE"
"ELIZABETH GLENN"
