As far as I can see we are both using the same code (the original coming

any difference between what I wrote and what you posted, besides that your
code is written to be executed once, and mine to be executed in a loop. And
works OK, but only for one loop iteration.

I don't bother with ASCII conversion since I am not interacting with
anything external to the iSeries.
