A date is always a 4Byte binary value. Date formats are only used to make this binary value readable. In RPG this binary value is converted into a readable date, but for calculating and updating it is reconverted into the appropriate binary value. If a date format is specified for a date field in either D-Specs or the file, this date format is used. If no date format is specified in the D-specs, the date format specified in the H-Specs is used. If neither in the D-Specs nor in the H-Specs a date format is specified, *ISO is used. Is there a specific format that they must be in? the user is going to enter it as a type *USA, but it seems like at least from the command line I can never get them to pass correctly. Suggestions or hints?
