Andrew, Lim,

rather stupid :

Instead of quitting the routine on the 'Operations Error' of the
ldap_search_st API,
I just ignored the error and let the procedure continue ...

and the bloody thing works without a problem .
thanks for your help .

Part of the problem is in how your LDAP server is configured. In my
case my LDAP server is on a windows machine which is running Active
Directory.

In my case I do the following.

  eval      rc = ldap_simple_bind_s(ld:
                  LOGIN_ACCT: LOGIN_PASSWD)

Login_acct = mydomain/userid
Login_passwd = mypassword

Hope this helps.

Andrew
