>> SQL syntax supports one level of qualification (DS.SUBFIELD). Multiple levels of qualification and array subscripting are not supported. It is not in the standard and I don't know of any platform that does support this. I guess it depends on your definition of qualification. This is valid ANSI SQL (according to iSeries Navigator which generated it). CREATE VIEW PARTNER400.TESTVIEW AS SELECT PARTNER400.CATEGOR.CATDES, PARTNER400.PRODUCT.PRODCD, PARTNER400.PRODUCT.PRODDS, PARTNER400.PRODUCT.STOH, PARTNER400.PRODUCT.LNDCST, PARTNER400.PRODUCT.SELLPR FROM PARTNER400.CATEGOR INNER JOIN PARTNER400.PRODUCT ON PARTNER400.CATEGOR.CATCOD = PARTNER400.PRODUCT.CATCOD WHERE PARTNER400.PRODUCT.STOH <= 0 That's three level qualification (e.g. PARTNER400.PRODUCT.CATCOD). Also my point was that we should not be artificially restricted in our choice of _host_ variable names regardless of what SQL's syntax rules for its own language is.
