Martin, Assuming the subfile isn't sparse (no skipped RRNs) I'd rather sequentially work through the subfile until %Found fails. Then you don't have to keep track of a separate SFLRECS value for the total number of records in the subfile. The loop is more complicated but you can't run into any problems with SFLRECS not matching the actual records in the subfile. Is SFLSIZE some new keyword in V5R3? Paul
