I'm confused by your use of this statement. You seem to be arguing against a simplistic approach, but the rest of your post argues for it. Discussing the fine detail of coding read loops is hardly trying to please the masses, whereas a tacit agreement to avoid digging deeper once a working code sample has been posted would appear to be just that. > All in all as long as the code is easy to understand & > performs correctly (& efficiently) who cares?? I do actually. I get the feeling that some of the others do too, otherwise why would they bother to post? > Most of the things I've seen come through this list lately > are preferential debates, not really helpful! > > For someone who came here with a basic need or question, they > most likely leave with a solution & a migraine!! If you don't want a technical discussion it's probably better not to come to a technical discussion area populated mainly by people who enjoy discussing technical detail. > Basically in a nut shell, if we can solve the querant's issue > that's lovely. Are you suggesting that we shouldn't discuss RPG programming technique in depth in case some people won't be able to follow the discussion? Those people can simply pick a working example they like and stick to it. They may not be interested in the detailed discussion, and they're not obliged to follow it, but at least they'll be aware that alternative ideas exist. -- Dave... _________ ,___o __________ _\ <;_ http://www.audax.uk.net ___________ (_)/ (_) http://www.twickenhamcc.co.uk ======================================================= The opinions expressed in this communication are my own and do not necessarily reflect those of my employer. ______________________________________________________________________ This message may contain confidential information which may also be legally privileged and is intended only for the use of the parties to whom it is addressed.
