I agree. If they were 'flame wars' it would be a different story, but they are extremely good arguments that stick mostly to the facts. If it were not for the free-format vs fixed-format arguments, I'd have never started coding in free-format.... Ron Power Programmer Information Services City Of St. John's, NL P.O. As a programmer that still has a great deal to learn I would say for myself that these debates are good learning experiences. These debates tend to become overly technical and overly detailed. That is very useful for me to learn. Currently the discussions on free form are especially interesting. Without the discussions, and the errors, and the grace with which errors are corrected, this list would become dry and difficult for me to swallow. Sort of like peanut butter without the jelly and milk, if you know what I mean. Even the dou - dow wars are learning experiences for me. :) So if it were up to me I would say "Play on!" --------------------------------- Booth Martin http://www.martinvt.com --------------------------------- -------Original Message------- From: RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries Date: 08/22/05 11:54:35 To: RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries Subject: RE: read on a do loop > Most of the things I've seen come through this list lately are > preferential debates, not really helpful! If by "lately" you mean, "over the past 5 years" then I agree with you. -- This is the RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries (RPG400-L) mailing list To post a message email: RPG400-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/rpg400-l or email: RPG400-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/rpg400-l. .
