Malchow,
Do you have RPG xTools?
The NumToNum() procedure will allow you to do something like this:

 D Pkd S 7P 2

 Eval pkd = NumToNum(%subst(buffer:10:4) : T_Packed :7:2)

If everything is under control, you are going too slow.

Subject: Converting packed values in a buffer

Can anyone make a suggestion as to where I can look for information on
how to convert a packed value when it is in a data buffer?
