No problem, thanks for the response.  I kind of feel like I'm jumping in the
deep end of the pool figuring I'll find out whether I can swim or not<G>.

Actually, it seems like this is something the createCell method should be
doing for me; after all, it's what happens when I use Excel to put a value
in a cell, and I had the impression the HSSF methods are trying to make it
simple to do what Excel does.
