That is what I am trying to do.
I am creating the file directly on the IFS, and getting corrupted data in the 
output, and unable to open the file in EXCL unless I first OPEN & SAVE using 
NOTEPAD.
All suggestions are welcome.

This is a trick I often use to add 'Excel output' to an iSeries report, 
without the use of Java (still learning). You create an HTML file, usually 
with one or more s, and name the HTML file with a .xls extension. I 
then STRPCO, and STRPCCMD the file from the IFS, and voila. The user sees 
green screen one second, and Excel the next.
