Marla,The *ASCEND/*DESCEND will not make a difference if there are records selected, so there must be something else going on.
What first comes to my mind, based on your getting data for *ASCEND and none for *DESCEND, is to suggest looking for lines in your RPG that make record selections or comparisons after the READ to the file.

Through further testing, I found that my only problem - whether it is by using the CL statements or the RPG version - is that I don't have any records selected when I chose to sort my data descending. I don't get any error messages, just an end of file condition that there was no data. It doesn't matter if my data is alpha or numeric. If I choose to have the data in *DESCEND sequence for whatever key field, I don't have any data. My code works fine the default of *ASCEND. If I hardcode the field name in the keyfld for the one I want to have sorted descending, it still will not provide me any data. I am not sure how to go about even debugging this to find the issue. I am not sure what else I can provide to give further information. Please let me know what other information you need me to provide. Thanks! Marla Snow
