Check the file description (DSPFD) and look to see if file is delete capable. This is not a "36" thing. On both 36 systems & native systems files can be built to be Allow Delete *No. Unfortunately is was a common practice in some S36 shops. CHGPF will not change that attribute. I don't know any way of changing a file, except 1. rename existing file 2. CRTPF (or s36 BLDFILE) with option Allow Delete *yes 3. cpyf data from renamed into new file. If file has indexes (from bldindex command it gets more complicated.
