If the sorting applies only to the contents of the subfile, a data
structure that contains an array of undefined length and dim(9999) where
each subfield (screen field) that follows is overlaid on the array can
be used to build the subfile. The default sort would be arrival
sequence or whatever. When the user asks for a new sort, sort the array
by the sub-field and rebuild the subfile ignoring blank records.

If the sort is for the entire file and the file has more than 9999
records it gets harder. <g> SQL makes a lot more sense then.

WAIT! I got the answer!

1) With the help of the entire population of the RPG400L list, force
IBM to modify SORTA to work with DS arrays

2) Create a DS array to store the results in, sort based on the user's
choice field, using the New SORTA op

3) output to the subfile

HOORAY! I WIN!!!
