I recommend upgrading. Now, some people, no matter how many times you hit
them across the head with a 2x4, still think that the using the update
option from within WDSC should upgrade you from 5.1.0.3 to 5.1.2.4. It
won't. It will only go within a release, say from 5.1.0.1 to 5.1.0.3. To
upgrade to 5.1.2 you need to order a free code from your BP. Then, once
you have it installed, you can upgrade from 5.1.2 to 5.1.2.4 or whatever
the latest is.

Keep in mind, that if you have PDM and any one language (which you should
have if you are on a RPG list, eh?) you qualify for item 3 below:
http://www.ibm.com/software/awdtools/wds400/about/howToOrder.html
Well, there is that V5R2 or V5R3 requirement in order to qualify for the
free upgrade.

RE: WDSCi vs SEU

My version of WDSC does not seem to have this feature. The only thing
under
"New" is "Procedure". Perhaps I need to upgrade? I'm at 5.1.0.3.

There's a D-spec wizard that will let you create a D spec on the fly
without leaving the spot where you want to use it.

1. At your current spot in the code type
       if somenewvariable > whatever
2. Put somenewvariable in your cut-and-paste buffer
3. Right click and select New > D-specification
4. Fill in the wizard fields
5. When you hit Finish, you're still where you typed the "if" statement
6. Use ALT-Q to have a peek at the new D spec if you want, and use ALT-Q
to return to your code
