Ron,

The %check could be checked as follows:

D Digits c '0123456789'

c if %c heck(field1:0) = 0
c exsr donormal
c else
c exsr exception
c endif

Thanks,
Sudha

So,
how would you test that field to see if it is numeric then?

Do yourself a favor and forget you ever heard of TESTN. Some letters
are
considered numeric by TESTN. I suspect that %INT is not as generous.

?* is the transaction type code numeric?
     c evalr pay_type_test = paytyp

c eval msgdata = 'Invalid Transaction Type

This is supposed to be working, but a user got the RNX0105 error stating
that the eval sctax# = %int(paytyp)
a character representation of a numeric value is in error.
