Wanted to do this from scratch, but time constraints broke me into looking 
at existing code.  Gent here successfully uses that DS (that I originally 
created).  I must be doing something wrong.

Rob,

There is an API that can do this, the Retrieve Display File Information 
API, it is a very complex one.

Gene Gaunt had an article/sample code to use this API to retrieve the 
SFLPAG and SFLSIZE. It was published in Midrange Computing, now (source 
perhaps) available at www.mcpressonline.com. 

There have been other code samples as well.
