Subfile size versus File information data structure

Instead of having to code a constant for subfile size, (do loops etc.) is 
there some field in the file information data structure that will do?  My 
tests of the following were discouraging:
     D  MinSRRN              378    379I 0       Min subfile rel rec
     D  MaxSRRN              380    381I 0       Max subfile rel rec
