There if a RegEx API (C runtime library function) that is available with
V5R1 and later. Go into QCSRC in QSYSINC (or is it the H file???) and
position the member list to "REG" and you should see the header file for
regular expressions.

I've seen posts (here or the newsgroup?) that talked about using Java or
Perl for regex.  Might try googling regex and RPG.
