With the prototype in the /COPY file, it's impossible to have two different versions of the same prototype. (You do still (usually) have to remember to recompile everything using the prototype, if you change it.) By the way, for non-exported procedures, you should leave the prototype in the same source member as the procedure. Otherwise, it can be confusing to have an external prototype for something that doesn't exist externally.
