Is it possible to change the text in a column heading in a print file (PRTF)

Yeah, I know this is weird but we have some PRTF and DSPF objects that we
need to change the text on but we don't have source code. This would be a
"hack" but I wonder if such a thing is possible.

a) Obtain, or write, a utility to generate the DDS from the file information. There have been a number of tools published over the years to do this.

b) Fire up SST and edit the PRTF file object. Each text string is prefixed by its length. You will not be able to increase the text but you can decrease as long as you pad with blanks. Don't mess with the length bytes themselves. Make a duplicate and experiment with that first.

SST normally won't show lower-case characters so brush up on your hexadecimal. There is a way to get SST to display lower-case but I can't recall it at the moment.

Simon Coulter.
